No Fuss No Mess Guacamole
an easy to make, handed down recipe to help eliminate the mess when making guacamole.
Do you find making guacamole is a bit messy? The avocado gets all over your hands, the counter, and not to mention it ends up on the floor. A “slip and fall” in your kitchen is not fun!
Lucky for me my mom was the queen of “neat and clean” and she always found ways to do things easier. Let’s make a no fuss, no mess guacamole for weekend appetizers, game day, or sitting on the patio with a refreshing glass of iced tea and chips to dip into the guacamole.
When plastic bags became a staple in our house many years ago my mom started using them to help keep her kitchen cleaner and her food prep easier. Back “in the day” mom was innovative, but today everyone makes use of the bags in a thousand and one ways.
This TIP is one of her ideas that I have been using for years and it’s been a time saver making this no fuss no mess quick and easy guacamole to make on a whim, anytime.
Since guacamole can be a personal taste preference you can make this recipe your own by using the ingredients you enjoy. The amount of each ingredient will vary depending on how many avocados you use and your personal taste preferences.
This is a basic guacamole recipe. Add in any of your favorite ingredients to make this your own family favorite.
large ziploc freezer bag
- 3 Ripe Avocados, peeled and pitted, and slice in quarters
- 1-3 Fresh tomatoes chopped
- 1-3 cloves chopped garlic (to taste)
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion (optional)
- chopped fresh cilantro
- Juice from 1 lime
- salt and pepper to taste
- Add the cut up avocado to the plastic bag and gently squeeze the avocado into the desired chunkiness you prefer.
- Add to a bowl and then stir in the remaining ingredients.
- Taste for seasonings and add as desired.
Add the avocado to the ziploc bag and gently squeeze the avocado with your hands to mash it lightly. You can add in your selected ingredients to the plastic bag but after I’ve made this a few times I decided to scoop out the mashed avocado from the baggie and place it into a bowl and then gently stir in the remaining ingredients.
This is a quick and easy, no fuss no mess guacamole recipe and it’s one of my favorite kitchen hacks my mom passed down to me. I make this guacamole often, any time of the year, and for any occasion and with no fuss and no mess. It’s one of those quick and easy recipes you can make for any gathering throughout the year.
