With only 3 ingredients, plus water, you can save time and money with this easy How To Make Sweetened Condensed Milk recipe you can make in a blender.
Does this ever happen to you? You see a recipe you want to make immediately, pull out all your ingredients and realize you don’t have that ‘one’ important ingredient. Often times it is sweetened condensed milk. This happens a lot during holiday time when we do a lot of baking.
Or, how about those times when you are stuck in the house because of stormy weather, the kids are not feeling well, or you’re waiting for that repairman who just never shows . . . I know you will want to have this recipe on hand.
Sweetened condensed milk is one item I always make homemade which is usually this Dairy Free Sweetened Condensed Milk but there are times when I don’t want to use the coconut milk.
I’ve tried many homemade recipes for sweetened condensed milk and the recipe I’m sharing today is the only one so far that:
— only has 3 ingredients
— No cooking required
— takes seconds to mix in a blender
— tastes so much better than some other recipes that I’ve tried.
So here goes – the quick and easy sweetened condensed milk recipe that was shared on our Foodie Friends Friday Party several weeks ago by Jen of Cincy Shopper. The recipe calls for boiling water – Bingo!, that’s the secret. The hot water dissolved the dry milk and ‘cooked‘ it so that the off-putting taste of the powdered milk almost disappeared. (P.S. You can find lots of terrific recipes and DIYs on our weekly Foodie Friends Friday Party).
Two points I’d like to make about this recipe: (1) I do not use granulated sugar in my recipes which often results in a recipe ‘gone wrong’. I used golden Monk fruit in this recipe and it worked perfectly; and (2) I didn’t melt the butter, I just dumped the softened butter into the blender container and it blended just fine.
How To Make Sweetened Condensed Milk
I found this recipe on linky party Foodie Friends Friday shared by Jen over at CincyShopper.com
- 1 cup instant powdered milk
- 2/3 cup sugar (I used golden Monk fruit)
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/4 cup butter, softened (the original recipe calls for melted butter)
- Boil the water in the microwave.
- Add all the ingredients to the blender and mix until well blended. This only takes a few seconds.
- Scrape down the sides of the container, continue to blend if necessary. Pour into a glass jar.
- Cool and then refrigerate until ready to use.
How to make sweetened condensed milk takes only a few minutes to prepare. Make it early in the day, chill it and it will be ready for you to use in that special recipe. It will keep in the fridge 3-5 days.
