New England Style Lobster Roll Recipe
a delicious sandwich you can easily make at home for lunch, dinner or any special occasion.
You might be asking ‘what is the difference between a New England style lobster roll and other lobster rolls across the states’? As I researched this I found many descriptions of the New England lobster roll were similar with very slight variations.
I tried my best to narrow it down in order to make an easy New England style lobster roll: (1) use fresh lobster cut into large chunks (not minced pieces of lobster); (2) use a light dressing or mayonnaise; (3) a top split bun, sometimes called ‘frankfurter bun’, that is buttered and toasted just before adding the main ingredient!
Depending on where in the country you live, lobster rolls might be bit different. Since I live in the Northeast, though not technically in ‘New England’, most restaurants in the area make a New England style lobster roll. So that’s how I made my recipe version of a New England lobster roll.
What is most delightful when cooking and baking is that you can very often make a recipe to please your palate. Be creative and you”ll be sure to enjoy your masterpiece.
Sometimes the price of fresh lobster can be quite high so when my local market has a sale I mark the calendar and pick up a couple of lobster tails.
I’ve become obsessed with making lobster rolls at home. During the warmer weather in our area one of our local markets has a $2.99 lobster tail special. When I see the ad I’m quickly out the door to get there right away before they sell out. You know how those specials are, here one minute, gone the next. It was a good deal, even though they were small it was just enough for my lobster roll splurge.
The restaurant version of the lobster roll I recently had was simply dressed with a light mayo and citrus dressing. It was just right so that’s what I was going for, not too many flavors to overpower the lobster. It’s was as close of a New England style lobster roll as I’ll ever get.
